Jocker
Open 8.5m Prototype • Jo Richards Design • Canting Keel
The "Mini-Full Pelt". A fresh approach to high-performance sailing designed purely to give its owner a wild time on the water.
Race Overview
Radical design, pure speed
Jocker (ex-BigGrin Scandia) is a wayward son of alternative parents, designed by the famous Jo Richards and Christian Stimson. It has little desire to conform to conventional wisdom or rating rules; it is designed purely to give its owner a wild time on the water.
Known as "The Mini-Full Pelt", Jocker features a 3D milled polystyrene plug construction (E Glass/Foam) and a 2.5m steel fin with a canting bulb. Refitted specifically for Adriatic Sea conditions with a lighter bulb and larger sail plan, she is a fast, exciting boat that remains a surprisingly stable platform.

Performance Features
The canting keel is amazingly simple, operated by deck winches to bring the keel up to windward. A small daggerboard is added for upwind pointing. The boat becomes underpowered in 15 knots as the keel cants, providing a "Pride of Cowes" racing experience.
